Intesa Communications Group (Intesa) has officially earned certification as a Women Business Enterprise (WBE). Administered by the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), the Utility Supplier Diversity Program was designed to create more equitable procurement practices among municipalities and community-minded businesses.
Although Intesa has been women-owned and managed since it was founded in 2012, this certification recognizes that Intesa meets the state’s rigorous certification standards for diverse suppliers.
Partners Margie Newman Tsay and Maddy Kilkenny lead a company of eight professionals who serve regional and national clients in higher education, real estate development, blue economy, tourism, the nonprofit sector, and more.
“We’re thrilled to be officially recognized as a WBE,” said Newman Tsay. “It was a demanding process to earn our certification, but well worth the effort. As we continue to grow, we’re doubling down on aligning with organizations that share our values of inclusivity, belonging and humans-first interactions.”
California is home to 13 million women-owned businesses, the largest number in the nation. About 3,000 are certified as a WBE through the CPUC.
